1st Annual Great Canadian Beaver Race & Festival
Date: September 24 – 25, 2010

Description: The Kempenfelt Rotary Club is proud to present the 1st Annual Great Canadian Beaver Race & Festival brought to you by Molson Canadian. This annual festival is a celebration of being Canadian with an emphasis on the iconic beaver. Come out and take part in this family event which will consist of a Beaver Race & Beaver Lane on September 25th, entertainment all weekend and the Corporate Beaver Challenge from June – September. The Beaver Race will take place at Heritage Park on Saturday, September 25th starting at 2:00pm. There will be 10,000 beavers racing out into Kempenfelt Bay. It will be quite the sight to see. First place prize is $10,000.

Lawn Chair Luminata

Description: The Lawn Chair Luminata - Waterfront Series 2010 brings together arts and entertainment, the waterfront and the Downtown core to create the perfect venue for all families and friends to enjoy. This collaboration of theatre, music and film and art all set in Heritage park in Downtown Barrie, is an outdoor series scheduled throughout the summer that is accessible to all. Come down and enjoy the Lawn Chair Luminata and of course bring your lawn chair.

Theatre by the Bay presents ‘The Taming of the Shrew’

Description: The original battle of the sexes. This much-debated comedy is about two sisters: Bianca, the pretty one and Katherina, the vicious shrew that nobody wants to marry, Bianca has no shortage of admirers (Lucentio, Gremio and Hortensio) but her father insists that she will not marry until her sister is betrothed. Bianca’s suitors persuade fortune-teller Petruchio to court Katherina.

Métis Day/Bo’jou Neejee
Date: August 7, 2010

Description: One of the compelling stories told at Discovery Harbour is the migration of the Military troops from Drummond Island, in Lake Huron, to the Penetanguishene Establishment in 1828. Many of the people involved in the transfer were Métis who supplied the Military effort by providing supplies and provisions to the soldiers. Through costumed interpretation, displays and guest artisans, the culture and lifestyle of the Métis who lived in the area and served the military personnel will be told.

Theatre by the Bay presents ‘Aladdin & Jasmine’s Summer Adventure’

Description: Aladdin and his monkey friend Apu have been up to their old tricks of borrowing stuff from the evil sorcerer Jaffar's palace. Aladdin has recently decided for himself that it's time for a career change from thief to something else...but what to be? Apu, his partner in crime finally agrees with Aladdin but thinks they should at least enjoy their latest take. When they find an old lamp in the mix of loot, Aladdin tries to clean it off causing the release of a magical Genie with the power to grant three wishes.

Barrie Rhythmfest

Interactivity is a central theme of Barrie Rhythmfest and audiences, young and old, are encouraged to participate in a variety of ways. Caribfest - Barrie’s Annual Caribbean Festival

Description: Barrie's Annual Caribbean Festival. Downtown Barrie will come alive with this colorful display of costumes and floats as masqueraders dance to pulsating rhythms along the parade route. The magnificently colorful costumes coupled with the sounds of Caribbean music will present a spectacle that has never been seen on the streets of Barrie

Annual Barrie Fair

Description: The Annual Barrie Fair and Horse Show is a family focused event targeting families of all ages. The event presents agriculture in an entertaining, educational fashion with farm animals, horse shows, arts & crafts, flowers, fruits & vegetables, grandstand attractions, musical entertainment and a spectacular midway with rides & games.

2nd Annual ‘Railway Country & Bluegrass Festival’

Nine Mile Portage Heritage Festival

Description: Historic reenactments at Heritage Park; walk the historic Nine Mile Portage Trail; military, native, and voyageur encampments and displays at the historic Fort Willow.
