Spring Canoe Tour of the Minesing Wetland
What a fantastic adventure! Friends of the Minesing Wetlands conducted this day long canoe trip into the internationally recognized marshes and fens with running commentary by naturalists and wildlife enthusiasts. The spring run off provided us with an excellent opportunity to view otherwise inaccessible parts of the swamp – without bugs! A cacophony of song birds, the striking buffle headed duck, soaring turkey vultures, as well as great blue herons, bald eagles and even a sighting of a young golden eagle graced our day in brilliant sunshine. As the water levels at this time of year dramatically change from day to day, it is difficult to plan a route in advance, making for a few challenging portions to an otherwise easy, meandering paddle. The importance of having tour guides with an intimate knowledge of the swamp and a GPS was clearly evident in this isolated and incredibly beautiful corner of the world. A super day!

TIFT Does it Again
Talk is Free Theatre does it again taking advantage of innovative theatre space to present a lovely show. Marja Ardal was “Elsa” taking us along on her journey from Iceland to Scotland in "You Fancy Yourself". TIFT continues to attract great professional performances to our area and we are very thankful. Don’t miss the their last production of the season “Best of Ivanka” staring Jo-Ann Waytowich in Concert at the Gryphon Theatre for Arts and Entertainment. Two days only May 2 & 3.

I really can recommend to everyone who loves winter and winter activities to come to Barrie! I had such a great time in Barrie that I am sure to come back in summer to experience the summer activities!

Barrie in The Summer
We've been to Barrie twice now, the most recent time was in August 2007. We had a great time and enjoyed the amazing waterfront and beaches. There's always something to do and we thoroughly enjoyed the Dragon Boat festival. We met loads of people and have made some good friendships too.
