ITINERARIES – CANADIAN WINTER
(Recommended December to March)

There's nothing better than a Canadian Winter. This year, when the cold weather approaches, let Barrie, Ontario help your Group make the most of the season and embrace all the fantastic opportunities offered for seasonal recreation and entertainment.

After settling into their comfortable, motorcoach-friendly accommodation, you will split into groups to occupy the small village of ice huts that dot Kempenfelt Bay during the winter months. Part of Lake Simcoe, Kempenfelt Bay is home to many species of fish, including whitefish that can only be caught in the winter months and early spring. A unique and exciting winter activity, the Group is sure to fall for ice fishing hook, line, and sinker.

After an eventful morning, it's off for an exciting afternoon of skiing, tubing, or relaxing at Snow Valley Resort. The Group will enjoy a fantastic lunch at an onsite restaurant before choosing their favourite snow sports. Whether the Group is looking to feel the rush of alpine hills, the quiet serenity of snowshoeing, or the thrill of downhill tubing, there is an option perfect for every desire and skill level. Situated in a natural snow belt, and with full snowmaking facilities to ensure a powder-perfect experience, Snow Valley Resort is the ideal spot to take advantage of the natural winter that blesses our vast country.

As the sun goes down, the Group will tour Barrie's waterfront Heritage Park, and the Magic of Winter Animated Lights Display. Nothing brings alive the winter season like holiday lights, and the animated display against the backdrop of beautiful Kempenfelt Bay never disappoints.

After a hearty breakfast at their hotel, the Group will experience the magic of winter in a very special way: by leading their own dog sled teams. After mastering the commands and meeting the eager and strong dogs from Windrift Kennels, members of the Group will have the chance to lead their own winter expeditions through the beautiful, forested trails of Simcoe County. Alternately, Rolling Sands Percherons offers the Group a scenic and beautiful horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow-blanketed countryside. With no sounds but the crunch of the snow under the horses' hooves and the quiet sounds of Mother Nature's winter activities, a sleigh ride is the most relaxing way for the Group to tour winter's snowy wonderland.

After lunch at one of Barrie's many fine downtown restaurants, the Group will check out Barrie's festival and cultural scenes before leaving for home. If the Group's visit coincides with Winterfest, Barrie's premier winter festival, no one will want to miss the excitement. Grab a hot drink and wander through the festival to see amazing ice carvings, giant snow sculptures, lumberjack shows, and outdoor midway, and more. If it's not festival time, Barrie's many professional theatre groups will have no problem providing entertainment. With Talk is Free Theatre and South Simcoe Theatre offering winter seasons of fresh and engaging performances, there is sure to be a show perfect to entertain your Group.

From numerous interactions with the magical winter outdoors, to fantastic dining, festivals, and cultural entertainment, Barrie has every activity your Group could desire for a fun-filled winter getaway.
