Get Out & Play before Boots & Hearts 2018

Barrie has country all week long! Visit Barrie & Area before attending Boots & Hearts 2018. With plenty to do, places to stay, food to eat, and fun to be had, this is the perfect time to take your summer vacation (and of course end it with a blast at Boots & Hearts).

Come to Barrie the weekend before the Boots & Hearts festival to check out one of Barrie’s most popular events—the 47th Annual Kempenfest (August 3 – August 6). This event is featured on Barrie’s waterfront and presents over 300 artisans, an antique show, food vendors, a midway, plenty of children’s activities, an amazing line-up of live entertainment (including plenty of country music!), and always tons of attendees. Admission is free, but we’re pretty sure you won’t be going home empty handed.

Make sure you are at Kempenfest on Sunday August 5. The country fun starts during the daytime when KICX 106 presents their country legends tribute show, continues with the Bare Back Riders, the Reklaws, and Jojo Mason. The beer will be cold and the crowd is always lively. What a perfect way to get in the mood for Boots & Hearts 2018!

For more country fun, stick around for the evenings (Saturday nights) and check out the Ranch—Canada’s largest country bar. Described as a “cavernous, boisterous nightspot with country music events, dancing, cocktails, and a mechanical bull,” how can you resist? Stay tuned to their website for upcoming events and special guests.

Barrie's Waterfront

Aside from the country music, there’s tons of things to do in Barrie & Area. Our beautiful waterfront brings you the perfect place to try stand-up paddleboarding (or yoga on a paddleboard!), kayaking, kiteboarding, canoeing, fishing (we’ve got you covered with our favourite fishing charter!), seadooing, going on a sailing excursion, or even renting a bike or walking around the picturesque waterfront trail.

Basically, whether you’d rather relax with a book at a park, pick berries, or mountain bike through the forest, Barrie is the place to be.

Barrie has great shopping and most definitely something for everyone—The 400 Market sells everything you need (and some things that you don’t need but are too cheap to pass up), the antiques are plentiful (and beautiful), and we can help fill your home and garden, closet, and fridge (or cooler for Boots & Hearts).

Patio Dining Downtown Barrie

Barrie has great food. Challenge your friends to the Kitchen Sink burger at Kenzington, have a perfect view of Kempenfelt Bay from the Farmhouse, try some cutting edge craft beer (and pizza) at Barnstormer Brewing, take in the summer sun on Hooligan’s rooftop patio, or listen to live music at Donaleigh’s. Don’t forget to satisfy your sweet tooth with some froyo from Swirleez or cupcakes from cupCake. Check out all of our restaurants here. (P.S. our speciality take-out services would be so excited to fill your coolers with delicious ready-to-eat food that you can enjoy at Boots & Hearts all weekend long!).

With your camping gear already packed up, stay at a campground! Barrie is home to plenty of campgrounds (for pitching your tent or ‘glamping’ if you’d rather!) and RV parks. That being said, there are endless options when it comes to staying in Barrie—and we have something for everybody. If you prefer a hotel, bed & breakfast, or a cottage fronting the lake, Barrie has tons of quality possibilities. If you’re a timeshare owner, stay at Carriage Ridge/Hills Resort. Discover the adventures you can have by staying at Horseshoe Resort just outside of Barrie, or make your stay a little extraordinary by experiencing one of our downtown historical buildings (with original architecture).

Boots and Hearts

They will also host the I Love the 90’s Tour on August 18th 2018.  The tour has become one of the most sought after live events, selling out arenas worldwide with its rotating lineup of the 90’s’ most iconic acts. This year promises fans an unbelievable live experience with a lineup at Burl’s Creek that includes Vanilla Ice, Salt-N-Pepa, Montell Jordan, Rob Base, Young MC, and Black Sheep.

Barrie has it all—including country music—all summer long. Join us for some country fun, great food, relaxation, and adventure. Plan your vacation to Barrie & Area around Boots & Hearts 2018 now!
