    Snowshoeing

    Enjoy the serenity of a guided snowshoe tour through the forest where your guide will point out some of the natural features and wildlife of the area. Then join around the campfire for a bowl of delicious homemade chili, sip local craft beverages and roast smore’s at Snow Valley’s ‘Snowshoe & Chili Cookout’ on February 2nd and 16th.

    Ice fishing

    Bundle up, grab your gear and join nearly 1000 participants on Kempenfelt Bay for Barrie’s 13th Annual Ice Fishing Tournament. On February 16th families, kids and fisherman of all skill levels are encouraged to have fun and win some great prizes! Fishing licenses are not needed during this weekend for all Canadian Residents.     Skating

    Don’t forget to enjoy this classic winter activity! Take in the beauty of Barrie’s waterfront on skates at Centennial Park Community Rink. Open from 10am to 10pm the rink alternates from pleasure skating to shinny hockey. Once you’re done, head into downtown to warm up and grab a bite to eat at one of our delicious and unique restaurants. Click here for some great dining options.

    Snowmobiling

    Explore the breathtaking trails of Awenda Park with Diverse Rentals & Vacations. The friendly and knowledgeable staff at Diverse will gear you up with a helmet, coat, pants and boots then take you out on a fun and safe one-hour tour. Want to head out on your own?     Sleigh Rides

    Whether you’re planning a romantic excursion or looking for a fun family outing, an old-fashioned horse drawn sleigh ride offers a unique way to enjoy the pristine winter countryside.     Snowshoeing

    Venture through Scenic Caves Nordic Adventure’s 10 km of pristine snowshoe trails which wind through a 200 year old forest of magnificent 100 foot tall maple, beech and oak trees.   • Boots and Hearts 2018

    Come to Barrie the weekend before the Boots & Hearts festival to check out one of Barrie’s most popular events—the 47th Annual Kempenfest (August 3 – August 6). This event is featured on Barrie’s waterfront and presents over 300 artisans, an antique show, food vendors, a midway, plenty of children’s activities, an amazing line-up of live entertainment (including plenty of country music!), and always tons of attendees. Admission is free, but we’re pretty sure you won’t be going home empty handed.
