2018 City of Barrie Special Event Permit Application

Please find below the 2018 Application for a Special Event Permit in its new web format. If you prefer to complete the paper form you can download the application here. If you hosted an event on municipal property (City of Barrie park, roadway, parking lot) in 2017 and are going to be repeating your event in 2018 OR if you are a new event organizer who has already connected with the Special Events Office at the City of Barrie about your proposed event, please take the time to complete the form and provide as much detail as possible.  Once you have completed the form and hit “submit” you application will be automatically e-mailed to [email protected].  If you prefer to print your application or complete a fillable pdf version, you will find the 2018 Application available for download on the right hand side of the page which can be submitted via e-mail to [email protected] or by fax to 705-739-9160. Upon submission of your application you will receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours confirming it has been received.  From there the Special Events Office will notify you of your approval and next steps via e-mail as time allows. 

Please note: all new event applications must go to Barrie’s Event Action Team (BEAT) for approval prior to entering the full permitting process. Depending on the date of your submission, you may not receive notice of approval for some time.  For questions or concerns related to this process please contact [email protected].  

If you are thinking about hosting an event on municipal property for the first time, please make sure that you contact the Special Events Office by e-mailing [email protected] or by phone at 705-739-4285 prior to submitting an application.  Applications that have not been vetted with the Special Events Office in advance of submission cannot be considered for approval.

Personal information collected on this form is pursuant to the Municipal Act and is used during the Special Event Permit process. It may be shared with the Barrie Police Service, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and other external stakeholders. It will be used in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, C.M. 56.
