Barrie's Inaugural Sports Conference

Providing local sports organizations, stakeholders and volunteers the opportunity to learn, network and collaborate on new ideas and explore what's next for sports in Barrie.

Who is this conference intended for? 

This event is intended for community sport leaders, volunteers and industry stakeholders - those involved in the organization, administration, accommodation and delivery of sports associations, leagues, and teams.

What can you gain from this conference?

The event will provide an opportunity for leaders, stakeholders and volunteers to:

  • Network with like-minded individuals from other local sports organizations, hotels and community stakeholders. As well as learn from their experiences;
  • Share their successes and challenges with similar organizations
  • Learn from and be inspired by engaging guest speakers.
  • Participate in table discussions on hot topics in the sports community
  • Enjoy a delicious catered lunch
Where/when will this conference be held?

The conference is taking place at the Southshore Centre - 205 Lakeshore Drive, Barrie ON from 9:30am - 3:00pm. Non Barrie residents in attendance must pay for parking.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Blair McIntosh - Director of Sport for Special Olympics Canada

An experienced and passionate sport leader, Blair has a proven track record of leading effective and successful teams.  Currently the Vice President, Sport for Special Olympics Canada, Blair has over 35 years of experience in the Canadian amateur sport system. His extensive background includes time as CEO of Sport Alliance Ontario;  Director, Sport at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games; Director of Games with the Sport Alliance of Ontario; several roles at the Sport Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Recreation; and Director, Sport Tourism in London, Ontario.  Chair of the CSTA Board of Directors, he has also served on several Mission Teams for Canada Games and Paralympic Games, including the role as Chef de Mission for Canada at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. This wide range of sport experience gives Blair a unique perspective as a keynote speaker.
