Barrie's Sport Hosting History

2021 Canadian National Cornhole Championships
On August 27th, 2021, Barrie hosted the inaugural National Cornhole Championships at the Southshore Centre. The event brought in 80 athletes from all across Canada. Thanks to this event and the tireless work of Barrie's cornhole community, Barrie Cornhole League has become one of the largest cornhole organizations in Canada.
2015 Intercounty Baseball League All-Star Game
On July 11th, 2015, the IBL's Barrie Baycats hosted their second All-Star Game in 10 years at Vintage Throne Stadium (formerly Coates Stadium), where the Baycats took on the rest of the league's top talent but ultimately fell 13-4.


2015 Autumn Classic International
From October 12th to 15th, 2015 Barrie hosted the Autumn Classic International at Allandale Recreation Centre where future Olympic gold medalists Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford would take home the pairs gold for the second straight year.

2014 CS Skate Canada Autumn Classic
From October 15th to 16th, 2014, Barrie hosted the inaugural Skate Canada Autumn Classic at Allandale Recreation Centre where future 2018 team event gold medalists Gabrielle Daleman (ladies), and Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford (pairs) won gold in their respective events.

2013 Dominion Tankard
In 2013, from February 4th to 10th, Barrie hosted the 2013 Dominion Tankard at Sadlon Arena (formerly Barrie Molson Centre). Glenn Howard won the event, claiming his 15th provincial championship and 8th straight, for the right to represent Ontario at the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier.

2011 Clarkson Cup
In 2011, from March 24th to 27th, Barrie hosted the 2011 Clarkson Cup at Sadlon Arena (formerly Barrie Molson Centre). The championship was won by the Montreal Stars, which featured three players from Canada's 2010 Vancouver Olympics gold medal winning team: Kim St-Pierre, Sarah Vaillancourt, and Caroline Ouellette.

On June 19th, 2007, a Canadian Women's Tour event was held at Settler's Ghost Golf Club where Christine Boucher won the event after finishing 1-over par and defeating two other players in a three-way playoff with a 20-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole.

On May 30th, 2006, Settler's Ghost Golf Club hosted a Canadian Women's Tour event where Salimah Mussani edged out Corina Kelepouris at the first playoff hole with a 25-foot birdie putt after both finished 4-under par.
