Winter in Barrie isn’t something we just get through; it’s something we celebrate. And every year, Barrie Winterfest proves exactly why it’s one of the top winter festivals in Ontario. Hosted by the City of Barrie, this beloved community tradition turns the waterfront into a playground of snow, fire, food, and unforgettable winter fun.
Whether you’re a family looking for hands-on activities, a winter enthusiast chasing crisp-air adventures, or someone who just loves a good festival vibe, Winterfest is the perfect reason to get outside and embrace the season.

Easy to Get Here, Easy to Dive In
Getting to the fun is part of the experience. Hop on the GO Train and enjoy a relaxed ride north; no parking, no stress. Step off at Allandale Waterfront GO Station, and you’re just a short walk from Centennial Park and all the Winterfest action. It’s one of the easiest ways to turn a winter weekend into a full-on festival adventure.
Centennial Park Comes Alive
Most of the magic happens at Centennial Park, with activities running from 10am–5pm on Saturday and 10am–4pm on Sunday. Expect the park to be buzzing with energy as families wander between snow sculptures, live performances, and warming stations.

Fan-favourite highlights include:
- Snow Valley’s mini tube slide for instant winter thrills
- Ice and snow sculptures, including a stunning piece by artist Siggi Buhler
- Lumberjack shows that are loud, proud, and wildly entertaining
- Fire shows, magic acts, beatboxing, and circus performances
- Wildlife encounters with Speaking of Wildlife and The Eyrie Birds of Prey
- Inflatables, games, buskers, and family-friendly fun at every turn
Need a break from the cold? Warm up by the fire pits, roast marshmallows over crackling hardwood fires, or duck into one of the warming stations before heading back out for more.
Follow Your Nose to the Winter Food Vendor Village
Winterfest wouldn’t be complete without comfort food, and the Winter Food Vendor Village delivers. Cozy seating areas and fire pits make it easy to linger while enjoying everything from savoury classics to sweet treats.

On the menu:
BeaverTails • Smoke’s Poutinerie • Off the Rails Grill • Miller’s Meats • Chungchun Ricedog • Domino’s Pizza • Stevie’s Kettle Corn • Sweetiez • and more.
Winterfest Fun Beyond the Park
The celebration doesn’t stop at Centennial Park. Make a full weekend of it with other Winterfest happenings across the city:
- Start your morning at Barrie’s Farmers’ Market inside City Hall
- Lace up your skates at the Circle at the Centre Outdoor Rink
- Play shinny at Will Dwyer Park Community Ice Rink
- Warm up while exploring the Hot Cocoa Trail throughout downtown
- Dance the winter blues away at the Winterfest Jurassic Experience Dance & Beach Party at Five Points Theatre
- Catch live music across the city during The February Blues at various locations throughout Barrie
And when the sun sets, cap off the day with dinner at one of Downtown Barrie’s many restaurants, just steps away from the waterfront.
A Winter Weekend Worth Celebrating
Barrie Winterfest is the kind of event that reminds you why winter can be magical, full of laughter, glowing fires, live entertainment, and shared moments outdoors. Whether you come for an hour or stay all weekend, you’ll leave with rosy cheeks, full hands, and a few new favourite winter memories.
So bundle up, grab your crew, and come to have fun. Winterfest is waiting.
