Talk is Free Theatre

Founded in Barrie in 2003 by Artistic Producer Arkady Spivak and colleagues, Talk Is Free Theatre (TIFT) is a professional theatre company known for bold, innovative and boundary-pushing productions. With more than 20 years of creating theatre in Barrie and around the world, TIFT has produced more than 170 works, ranging from immersive experiences and off-centre musicals to reinterpretations of classics and new Canadian works.

As Central Ontario’s only professional theatre company with a traditional autumn-to-spring season, TIFT brings cutting-edge theatre to Barrie audiences. The company has earned national and international recognition, including multiple Dora Mavor Moore Awards and recognition from The Globe and Mail as one of Canada’s leading theatre projects.

TIFT’s productions have toured extensively across Canada and internationally, with performances in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Chile and Argentina. From theatre on a city bus to immersive theatrical adventures, TIFT continues to reimagine what theatre can be in Barrie and beyond.
