Simcoe County Museum

At the Simcoe County Museum, we believe that our visitors should be able to experience history first hand and that a museum is fun and exciting!

The Museum consists of a 5 gallery, climate controlled facility, surrounded by 16 heritage and display buildings located on 327 acres of forested parkland. Inside, experience Canadian Native cultures in our Wendat longhouse, wander along the re-created Barrie's Main Street exhibit and view the displays of well -preserved artifacts that depict the natural and human history of the area.

Step outside to explore 19th century heritage buildings including an early settler church, a log cabin, a train station, and a 1900 schoolhouse that was used in the filming of Anne of Green Gables. In the display barns, view our collection of heritage tools and machinery.

Exit north on Bayfield Street, which turns into highway 27, follow 10 km and turn left at the junction of highway 26 and 27. The Museum is the second lane on the left hand side of highway 26.
