The City of Barrie offers two Dog Off-Leash Recreation Areas, located at the Barrie Molson Centre and Sunnidale Park.

Barrie Molson Centre DOLRA
The Barrie Molson Centre DOLRA offers two separate, secured fenced areas, one (.25 acres) for small dogs up to maximum weight limit of 30 pounds, and a large pen (1.8 acres) available for all dogs. Dogs are permitted off leash in the natural area beyond the dog pens, but owners are advised that gaps exist under the fence line as a result of uneven terrain.

Directions:  From Hwy 400, go east on Mapleview Drive to Bayview Drive. Turn left on Bayview Drive and then turn right at the third entrance to the Barrie Molson Centre (The North Parking Lot); entrance is at the back of the parking lot.

Sunnidale Park DOLRA
The Sunnidale Park DOLRA is located in a natural, rolling setting with earthen footpaths and is not wheelchair accessible. The DOLRA is double gated with 4' high wire mesh fencing. Parking is available at the Dorian Parker Centre or along Sunnidale Road. The total off-leash area is 7.15 acres.

The Sunnidale DOLRA will be closed starting September 3, 2019 until late spring/early summer 2020.
The closure is required for two reasons:

1. Construction of two new bridges and a new trail to allow access across Kidd’s Creek. This work is anticipated to take 6 months.
2. Following the construction work, the trail will open, but the DOLRA will remain closed to allow for regeneration and restoration of the site. Since the DOLRA has opened the site has become quite popular. Unfortunately, this popularity has taken a toll on the soils and vegetation. This closure will give the DOLRA some much needed rest.

Exit Hwy 400 at Bayfield Street North, turn left onto Coulter Street and follow to back lot of Bayfield Mall. DOLRA access and sign is at back corner of Coulter Street across from mall.
