Lace up your skates and experience the magic of winter in Barrie! Whether you’re gliding under the open sky or enjoying the comfort of an indoor arena, Barrie offers a variety of indoor and outdoor skating rinks perfect for visitors and residents alike. The City’s Recreation team operates two artificial outdoor ice surfaces each season — the Circle at the Centre Ice Rink and the Will Dwyer Park Community Ice Rink — both maintained with chiller equipment to keep the ice smooth and ready for fun. For those looking to explore more local spots, a number of volunteer-maintained community rinks are available throughout the city. For a complete list, click here.
While Kempenfelt Bay may look inviting on a crisp winter day, skating directly on the bay is not recommended due to unpredictable and uneven ice conditions. It’s safer — and much more enjoyable — to skate on the city’s designated, maintained rinks, where the ice is always ready for a great time.
Bundle up, hit the ice, and make the most of Barrie’s sparkling winter season!
