Kempenfest 2025: Barrie’s Iconic Summer Waterfront Festival Returns August 1–4

Kempenfest returns to Barrie’s beautiful waterfront for its 53rd year from Friday, August 1 to Monday, August 4, 2025. Known as one of the largest and most beloved outdoor arts and music festivals in Ontario, Kempenfest continues to attract visitors from across the province for four action-packed days of creativity, live music, food, local culture, and family fun. Stretching over two kilometers along Kempenfelt Bay, the festival offers something for every age and interest.

A Showcase of Canadian Creativity: Arts, Crafts, and Antiques

The heart of Kempenfest is its Arts and Crafts Market, which runs from Saturday through Monday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Featuring over 300 jury-selected vendors, this section offers an incredible range of handmade goods including fine jewelry, woodworking, ceramics, textiles, home décor, paintings, and more. Shoppers can browse and connect directly with artisans, discovering one-of-a-kind treasures to take home.

Adjacent to the arts and crafts area is the popular Antique Village, organized by the Optimist Club of Barrie. This area features more than 35 antique dealers from across Ontario, showcasing vintage collectibles, rustic furniture, and historical curiosities. It's a must-visit for collectors and anyone with a passion for nostalgia.

A True Summer Carnival Experience: The Midway and Family Activities

For families and thrill-seekers, the Robertson Amusements Midway delivers classic fairground excitement with rides for all ages, games of chance, and a wide array of treats. From the Ferris wheel and bumper cars to games and novelty snacks, the midway captures the spirit of a traditional summer fair.

Young families will also enjoy the Kids Village, a special zone filled with interactive activities, face painting, children’s entertainment, and more. It’s a safe and engaging space designed for younger attendees to enjoy hands-on fun while parents take in the sights and sounds of the festival.
