Barrie's Sport Hosting History
The City of Barrie has a rich history of hosting various sport events. Over the years, the city has established itself as a vibrant destination for both amateur and professional sports competitions. November 18 - 24, 2024 - Twenty-eight of the country’s best club teams competed for the right to be Canadian champions at the 2024 Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships.

August 2 - 5, 2024 - Barrie hosted the Slo-Pitch National Championships at the Barrie Community Sports Complex. The event brought in 58 teams of athletes from all across Canada.

March 25 - April 2, 2023 - Barrie played host to the IIHF Women's Hockey Teams from Germany and Switzerland. The teams trained at the Sadlon Arena and Peggy Hill Team Community Centre and finished their stay with an exhibition game. Teams went on to compete for gold.
2024 IIHF Women's World Championship Pre-Competition Event
August 27th, 2021 - Barrie hosted the inaugural National Cornhole Championships at the Southshore Centre. The event brought in 80 athletes from all across Canada.

July 11, 2015 - The IBL's Barrie Baycats hosted their second All-Star Game in 10 years at Vintage Throne Stadium (formerly Coates Stadium), where the Baycats took on the rest of the league's top talent but ultimately fell 13-4.
2015 Intercounty Baseball League All-Star Game
October 12th to 15th, 2015 - At Allandale Recreation Centre, international athletes competed and future Olympic gold medalists Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford took home their second gold.
2015 Autumn Classic International
October 15th to 16th, 2014 - The inaugural Skate Canada Autumn Classic at Allandale Recreation Centre where future 2018 team event gold medalists Gabrielle Daleman, and Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford won gold in their respective events.
2014 CS Skate Canada Autumn Classic
February 4th to 10th, 2013 - Held at the Sadlon Arena. Glenn Howard won the event, claiming his 15th provincial championship and 8th straight victory.
2013 Dominion Tankard
March 24th to 27th, 2011 - Barrie at Sadlon Arena. The championship was won by the Montreal Stars, which featured three players from Canada's 2010 Vancouver Olympics gold medal winning team.
2011 Clarkson Cup
June 19th, 2007 - This Canadian Women's Tour event was held at Settler's Ghost Golf Club where Christine Boucher won the event after finishing 1-over par and defeating two other players in a three-way playoff with a 20-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole.
